We are organizing a “Luxury Coach” to attend
Soovin Kim’s performance with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra at the Flynn
Theater in Burlington on Saturday March 8, 2008. Soovin will be soloist in the
Violin Concerto by Sibelius, a magnificent work for a magnificent artist.
Also on the program will be Radiance by David Ludwig* and Symphony No.
3, “Rhenish” by Schumann. This exciting program will be conducted by
Maestro Jaime Laredo, Music Director of the VSO.
We have purchased 50 A+ seats ($57 each) at a 20%
discount and are passing the savings on to you—Hill and Hollow will not make a
profit on this! We are able to offer you a package-deal that includes the
round-trip transportation on both coach and ferry, as well as tickets for the
“best seats in the house.” The concert begins at 8:00 pm (with an optional
pre-concert talk at 7:00 pm) and lasts approximately two hours. We are
arranging an
opportunity to greet Soovin following his
performance, probably during intermission.
The bus will depart from the Plattsburgh Elks
Lodge at 4:45 pm, with boarding from 4:30 pm. The Elks are graciously
permitting us to park vehicles in their lot for the evening. With an expected
arrival time of 5:45 pm in downtown Burlington, there will be sufficient time
for dinner or a snack, as you wish,
before the 8:00 pm concert or the optional 7:00

* You may recall that we commissioned David
Ludwig to compose a work for violin, cello, and guitar, and the resulting Autumn
Variations was premiered in 2002 by Soovin Kim, Efe Baltacigil and Jason Vieaux.
Ludwig, grandson of pianist Rudolf Serkin, is
currently a resident artist
at the Gardner Art Museum in Boston and resident
composer and New Music Advisor of the VSO.
